IDRIS REPS LONDON
We’ve got so accustomed to hearing Idris Elba speak with an American accent; it’s easy to forget he’s a Londoner.
But Elba is assisting The International Olympic Committee by helping to promote the events taking place in London during this year’s Olympics.
The proud Londoner, who was born and went to school very near to the Olympic site in East London, is encouraging people to get involved in the free events and opportunities taking place during the Olympic period.
It's a big year for the UK as the Queen also celebrates her diamond jubilee, marking 60 years of her reign.
Apart from the games themselves BBC Radio 1 will be hosting one of the biggest free music festivals London has ever seen. Artists like Jay Z, Rhianna, will.I.am, Jesse J and Tinie Tempah will be performing in an area known as Hackney Marshes. Appearing on the six stages will be a varied mix of UK and international artists - from household names, to brand new artists championed by Radio 1 DJs.
If you’re lucky enough to be in London this summer you can get information on all the London 2012 events via: https://www.london2012.com.

BOYLE ON STAGE
Finally, to the person who has managed to epitomize the philosophy of the American dream even though she's Scottish.
As it if wasn’t enough to rise from unknown to internet sensation in a matter of days, Susan Boyle now has a new stage musical, called "I Dreamed a Dream”, which premiered in England this week.
Starring actress Elaine C. Smith as Boyle - with a cameo appearance by Boyle herself in the finale - the play is about her life and sudden rise to fame after amazing everyone with her performnce on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2009.
I can see this production breaking records if it comes to the US.
