Brit Spotting Round-up 3/20March 20, 2012
IDRIS IN DEMANDIn the few weeks since we last featured Idris Elba he's been stacking up on his 'upcoming project's' list.
The British actor, who is set to play Nelson Mandela in the big-screen adaptation of Mandela's autobiography, 'Long Walk to Freedom', is also considering a unique double role in 'Ascension', an adventure/thriller. The two roles Elba may possibly be playing are the Egyptian inventor and architect, Imhotep in 3000 B.C. and a brilliant astronomer in the near future. But before all of that, you can catch the English eye candy in Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi horror 'Prometheus' which is released across the US from June 8th and the UK from June 1st. Seems there's no shortage of movie work for the 'Luther' star - doesn't leave a lot of time for his alter ego - rapper Big Driis. If you've never seen him in action, here's a peek: |
RHIANNA'S UK TAKEOVER
While there's still much debate about how much of a fashion icon she is, Rihanna has signed up to make her first television show and it’s in the UK.
The pop superstar will be the executive producer for a show to find the UK's best new fashion designer.
Nicola Roberts, the singer from UK girl group 'Girls Aloud' will host the show.
Apparently Rhi Rhi will be heavily involved in the casting and the winner of the program will get to design a stage outfit for Rihanna's Wireless performance in London's Hyde Park on July 2012.
The series will come exclusively to the UK's Sky Living HD channel in summer 2012. No word yet on whether it’ll be aired in the US.

COWELL'S CURRY CRAVINGS
We had to end with this quote from Simon Cowell. Although the talent show guru is constantly jetting from one country to another with a home in LA and Barbados, he’s told UK tabloids that he’ll never quit the UK for good because:
“I love fish and chips, proper curry and I love working with an English audience... I’m not one of those Brits who went off to America and said I’m not coming back, I would never do that. I come back to recharge my British batteries.”
